Registration
Registration is only announced at all Sunday Masses, (Saturday Vigil Mass)for five consecutive weekends.
Registration for First Holy Communion preparation is not advertised in the parish newsletter or on the parish website. We also do not advertise it through our local Catholic school of St Anne’s, as children often come from other schools.
Parents are responsible for listening for these announcements and completing the registration forms and returning with a copy of the child’s baptism certificate within the stated timeframe. The registration deadline is final, and late registrations cannot be accepted.
The preparation programme is led by volunteer catechists from St Ann’s Parish. They generously give their time to support the children of our parish in their preparation for these important Sacraments. It is therefore expected that the children participating in the programme will be children of families who are regularly practising their faith at St Ann’s.
Registration Requirements
To register your child for our programme for the Sacraments of First Holy Communion and Reconciliation, the following requirements must be met:
Your child must already have been baptised in the Catholic faith.
At least one parent must be a registered and practising member of St Ann’s Parish.
The family is expected to participate regularly in Sunday Mass, which includes the Saturday Vigil Mass, and to be actively practising their Catholic faith.
Regular participation in Sunday Mass and an active commitment to the Catholic faith are essential. It would be difficult for a child to be adequately prepared to celebrate these Sacraments if the family is not already participating regularly in the life of the Church, and the support and example of the family are essential to this preparation.
