Support for charities is one way we live out our mission at St Ann’s. We are eager to follow the Church principle of showing a ‘preferential option for the poor’ and seek to support a range of local, national and international charities.
The parish supports several charities financially every year. We also support charitable endeavours on an ‘ad hoc’ basis. Finally, we try to support individual parishioners in their charitable work.
Here are some of the charities we support as a parish (click on the logos to visit the charity’s website):
Cafod – the Catholic Agency for Overseas Development – is the official aid agency of the Catholic Church in England & Wales. The charity campaigns for global justice, so that every woman, man and child can live a full and dignified life.
Stella Maris is the largest ship-visiting network in the world.
The charity improves the lives of seafarers and fishers through its network of local chaplains and seafarer centres, expert information, advocacy, and spiritual support.
Missio is the Pope’s charity for world mission. The charity aims to ignite God’s love by helping local missionaries to work alongside global communities that are poor or in need, regardless of their background or belief.
Here are some current charitable activities that our parishioners are involved in:
Phil Vince will shortly be running in the London Marathon to raise money for Bliss, a charity that provides support and information to parents and families of babies born prematurely or sick. You can discover more and sponsor Phil by clicking here.
